Can I hire in Nigeria without a company?
Yes. An Employer of Record employs the person on its own Nigerian entity and invoices you, so you skip the 8–12 week, $5,000–$15,000 incorporation process. CareerBuddy's Nigerian EOR starts from $399 per employee per month, with first payroll about 10 business days after signing.

03What the EOR takes on
The EOR becomes the legal employer in Nigeria while you keep day-to-day direction of the work. It carries the statutory obligations that would otherwise require your own CAC-registered entity.
- Nigerian employment contract and onboarding
- PAYE withholding and remittance to the state revenue service
- 10% employer pension to a licensed PFA
- 1% NSITF on gross, and ITF where the payroll threshold applies
- Leave, benefits administration and compliant offboarding
04When to incorporate instead
Once you pass roughly twenty employees in Nigeria, or you need to hold local licences, contracts or IP in-country, your own entity starts to pay for itself. Below that, the EOR is cheaper and reversible.
05What about paying them as a contractor?
It is common and it is risky. If you set their hours, tools and priorities, Nigerian authorities can treat them as an employee regardless of the invoice, leaving back-taxes and pension liabilities with you.
Frequently asked
How quickly can someone start on an EOR?+
About 10 business days from a signed order form to first payroll, assuming the candidate's documentation is ready.
Can CareerBuddy find the person too?+
Yes. Recruitment and EOR run on one contract — three vetted candidates in 4 business days, then employment on the Nigerian entity.
