01Employer of Record

How does an Employer of Record work?

An EOR engagement runs in five steps: you sign an order form naming the role and salary, the EOR issues a compliant local contract, the employee onboards, the EOR runs monthly payroll and remits statutory contributions, and it manages offboarding to local law. First payroll is about 10 business days after signing.

    03Step by step

Nothing about the sequence is exotic — the value is that every statutory obligation attaches to an entity that already exists and is already registered.

    • 1. Order form — role, salary, start date, benefits and market
    • 2. Contract — issued in the local language and format, to local notice and probation rules
    • 3. Onboarding — right-to-work checks, tax and social-security registration, payroll setup
    • 4. Monthly run — salary paid locally, PAYE withheld, employer contributions remitted, payslip issued
    • 5. Offboarding — notice, final pay and statutory severance handled to local law

    04What you are invoiced

One monthly invoice: the employee's gross salary, the statutory employer costs for that market, and the EOR fee. Employer costs differ sharply by country — roughly 18.5% of basic in Ghana versus about 1–2% plus a sector levy in South Africa.

    Frequently asked

    Who handles a termination?+

You make the decision; the EOR executes it to local notice and severance rules and carries the process risk. Rushing a termination without the EOR's process is how liability is created.

Can the employee later move onto our own entity?+

Yes. When you incorporate, the employee can be transferred with continuity of service. Plan the transfer date around the local payroll cycle.
